They offer a variety of account options that can help their customers find whats right for them. I think this is either a Truist bug or some common service we all use that is “logging in,” not sure that folks are getting hacked like I originally worried about.BB&T is a well established bank that operates in more than 1,700 branches across 15 states and Washington, D.C. Once I changed my username after posting this thread the unrecognized device logins stopped. Lots of people have posted since last night describing the same thing: weird notification regarding a device being added only for users to login and see logins from devices they don’t recognize.Ĭhange your username AND password. kind of, I don't really have any technical knowledge.

Still not really sure what's going on but I checked the login activity again the unfamiliar device seemed to access my account at a very regular rate, 4-5 times a day, which lends itself to the budgeting app theory. There was a notification asking me to fix my checking account information but it wasn't dated so it's impossible to tell if it's current or super old. By logging in I re-opened it which means it was closed, but my banking information was still there. Mint had my bank account listed but the activity for it had not been updated since 2019. Digital banking then transferred me to the online fraud department who went straight to voicemail. They transferred me to digital banking who gave me bad information which wasn't encouraging. No e-mails/texts or anything from Truist about security either.Įdited to add that I have 2 Factor enabled and never received something for this other device, which is the same type of computer I use but a totally different browser: a version of Chrome that was release September of last year.Ĭalled Truist, regular customer service couldn't help me get anymore information. Why would someone hack a bank account just to login multiple times a day without actually doing something? I'm so creeped out. It hasn't gone anywhere weird and everything looks right in that regard. What's weirder still, though, is that none of my money has been touched. Low and behold, there are logins happening MANY times over the span of a month (only goes back 30 days) from an unrecognized device and browser at weird times that definitely could not be attributed to me. That's weird because I updated my password yesterday successfully and hadn't logged in since.Īfter resetting my password I looked at my login history in the app. Upon logging in today, I got an error saying my account was locked due to too many invalid login attempts. It will come as no surprise that Truist has been in shambles since the merger. I recently changed my password for my Truist account. I am not necessarily posting this for a solution/IT support, but to see if anyone has experienced something similar and to see why anyone would do this.
